Next-generation sequencing is an indispensable tool in animal and human research nowadays. It provides a precise and accurate view of the genome, transcriptome, epigenome, and metagenome of various subjects. In this talk, experts will be sharing about the evolution of sequencing technologies and how it fits different applications in animal and human research.

Two case studies will be shared: (1) application of RNA-Sequencing to characterize the transcriptomes of patients with different severity of dengue infection to understand the interplay among immunological mechanisms, host factors, and dengue virus infection, and (2) application of single-cell SLAM-seq in zebrafish embryos to study the cell fate plasticity in early embryogenesis.
