What does AGAGEL mean?

One question we get asked often is what does our laboratory name mean? Well for starters, we are known as the Animal Genetics and Genome Evolutionary Lab based in Universiti of Malaya, Malaysia!

Our core focus is on aquatic research which is the life in water and this life is so precious.We want to use these valuable gifts as a model to study the effect of climatic change and also aquaculture demand . Aquatic and animal sciences also provides baseline platform for human and host interactions in fundamental study in which  any changes that  we make to the animal or aquatic model, the physiology and its cell biology of that entity will change and has an effect  on its evolutionary dynamics in terms of its behavior, resistance, and survival.We think that it's our duty to play a small part in protecting these animals and maintaining a balance between human survival and animal sustainability.

G = Goal to achieve University of Malaya aspirations in research, teaching,

A = Aspiration lab for the young minds especially research students to make a difference
